So for years my mum has been making the most amazing homemade lemonade, and for a BBQ this year I throught I would have a go at making it myself. It took a couple of times for me to perfect it, but this is the recipe I have finally settled on.
Please feel free to adjust it to your own taste but hopefully you can use this as a guide.
So the ingredients you need are:
2 Large Lemons (plus some to put in your glass)
3-4 tablespoons sugar
1 1/2 pints of boiling water
Fresh Mint (optional)
Squeeze the juice out of the lemons into a jug and put this to the side. Tip: to make squeezing the lemons easier, roll them before cutting them to soften them up.
In a sausepan put the left over lemon peals (that you used to squeeze the juice), the sugar and the boiling water.
Simmer on a low head for 5 mins and then take off the heat and leave to cool.
Once cooled strain this into the squeezed lemon.
Add ice, slices of Lemon and mint (if you want) and keep in the fridge.
Once nice and cold drink away!
Just lovely for this time of year,especially as I can’t drink at the moment I am loving this. Great to make for a bbq, gathering or even bottle it up and make favours.
